Procurement Officer

Temporary Procurement Officer role with a State Government Department – great hourly rate and immediate start.

A State Government Department is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Procurement Officer to join their team on a temporary basis. This role is responsible for supporting procurement activities across the region, ensuring the timely sourcing of goods and services while maintaining compliance with procurement frameworks and delivering value-for-money outcomes.

Working in a fast-paced environment, you will contribute to procurement projects, support contract processes, and collaborate with stakeholders to ensure efficient service delivery. About the Role

Key responsibilities include:

  • Undertaking procurement-related projects, including research, analysis, and reporting
  • Sourcing quotes, tenders, and supplier pricing for goods and services
  • Processing purchase orders, work orders, and field release orders
  • Supporting contract management activities and procurement processes
  • Assisting in the development and delivery of procurement training and induction programs
  • Preparing training materials and coordinating contractor meetings, including minutes and presentations
  • Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of procurement legislation, policies, and departmental requirements
  • Promoting procurement as a key business function across the organisation
  • Ensuring accurate documentation and record keeping
  • Contributing positively to team culture and continuous improvement initiatives

About You

You are an experienced procurement professional with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities in a structured environment.

You will bring:

  • Demonstrated experience in procurement and/or contract management (essential)
  • Strong understanding of procurement processes, sourcing, and compliance requirements
  • Previous Government experience (highly regarded)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
  • A professional, proactive, and team-oriented approach
